Project Overview
A homeowner in Fort Sanders near Market Square reached out after noticing heavy water pouring over their front porch during a spring thunderstorm. The home, just off Cumberland Avenue surrounded by decades-old oak trees, had an original 5-inch gutter system that had not been serviced in several years.
Upon inspection, we found the gutters were packed entirely to the brim with decomposing leaves, acorns, and thick mud. The weight of the debris was beginning to pull the gutters away from the historic wood fascia.
- The Problem
The downspouts were completely blocked, causing hundreds of gallons of rainwater to pool against the foundational brick of this historic home, risking severe interior water damage and basement flooding.
- Our Solution
We manually removed over 8 contractor bags of heavy, wet debris from the system. We then performed a high-volume flush of all four downspouts, disassembling one stubborn hidden clog to ensure 100% free-flowing water. Finally, we tapped the loose spikes back in to secure the gutters against the fascia.
